February 22, 2021: The United States reaches 500,000 COVID-19 deaths.

In the last week, the United States passed the grim milestone of 500,000 deaths. The victims were later honored by President Biden in a ceremony in front of the White House.

The nation has the single highest coronavirus death toll, making up 20% of the world’s deaths, even though it makes up only 4.25% of the world population.

COVID 19 has joined the “leading causes of death” in the nation, along with heart disease and cancer, and brought the life expectancy more sharply than in decades.

Millions and millions of family members having lost their sons, daughters, siblings, or parents.

Hopes on vaccines are increasing as the death toll has slowed, while vaccine distribution has picked up in the United States.

Predictions of a 240,000 death toll in the United States, initially seeming impossible have now been crushed, with more than double the victims.
