World Health Day as the pandemic continues its spread across the globe

April 7 marks the anniversary of the creation of the World Health Organization in 1948 by the United Nations. The day is named “World Health Day.”

The day is typically used as a call-to-action to a problem affecting large populations. This year, the WHO acknowledged the continued, though slowed spread of the pandemic worldwide, also commenting on the billions of people who breathe unclean air daily.

Deaths due to the coronavirus have topped six million, with developing and undeveloped countries still lacking in vaccination worldwide. Countries like the US have recently approved more booster shots, but still lack vaccination in many regions.
